Scrolthus is commonly known as 'The God of Magic'. Scrolthus is seen as a man who wears baby blue robes with a grayish cowl. He has a long white beard that stretches down to nearly his feet. On his left side he holds a book containing all spells known, and even unknown spells to the realm of crysilthum. On his back he wears a giant scroll detailing the world in it's complete complexity, an always updating map. This is where he gets his nickname, Scrol-thus. "Thus the Scroll". This scroll is very much like the minor book that he carries, but a more complete version of what is put inside of his book. On the scroll it is said that the entire world and all of it's people and all things in it can be called up on at will to see anyone and everything at a moment's notice. It forms a complete lexicon of the entire world and all of it's information. None have ever seen the scroll fully unrolled as the scroll seems to stretch into infinity with endless notes scrawled throughout.
The main weapon of choice of scrollthus is a wand-staff hybrid, which is in the shape of a massive lightning bolt. This wand is made of a clear crystal that acts as an almost prism for magic expelled through it. This wand acts like a conduit of energy that allows scrollthus to cast spells into the world. Scrolthus in one of his earlier years offered a duplicate of the rod to the younger Asinius, however the young god simply refused the gift, calling it "a crutch to use such a tool". Regardless, Scrolthus to this day uses the lightning bolt to cast down enemies from afar, not like he does this often. For Scrolthus is not a man of war, but more a researcher and scholar. This has in turn led to scrolthus being great friends with the god Novius.
One would think they would be at constant war of technology vs magic, however they tend to work together to form great ideas. Like his brother Novius, Scrollthus is also an avid scholar that researches the worlds magic creating a plenty of new spells that he puts inside of his book. Unlike Novius though, he almost never appears to humans in his physical form. He is instead typically found in the halls of Arthul entranced by the world below so much so that he never interacts with it. He instead acts as an almost watcher of the world, and it's people, never really affecting them except for gentle nudges here and there. Using his scroll he keeps track of the world and monitors in particular, the Rastafar, his greatest failure.
The Rastafar
The Rastafar is a special place for the god Scrolthus, for it is his accident. Few know the true nature of the accident but many believe it to be a failure of Scrolthus's part, and the main reason he no longer interacts with this world like he used to. Many believe the accident to be an explosion of magic that created a corrupted sand that was so vile that even Scrolthus couldn't stop it. He spent a myriad of centuries trying to figure out how to stop it until one day he managed. Unlike his younger self he bestowed this knowledge to some dwarfs, humans, and elves rather than cast it himself. Who took this knowledge and cleansed the northern and southern halfs of varn of all sand that was in these regions. They then built the barriers, known as the Sentinels with their magics combined which still to this day hold off the rastafar. Soon after the creation of the sentinels, the god Scrolthus did one last great act upon this world. He created a massive tower above a pit in the sand that would hold off the dark magic that was being released from the void he created. To this day it still holds off the tide of evil beasts that would be released from the void. The Milvund have built their city around it, harnessing the magic that swells forth from the oasis that remains inside of it. Worshipping it as not an act of failure, but as an act of great success that the god Scrolthus has blessed the world with. The sands to the Milvund are a nasty byproduct of a great magical renissance that could have been created in their eyes.
Still to this day the mess of the rastafar has not been completely cleaned up and so the weight on Scrolthus shoulders still rests on them feeling the eternal blame of failure. For the sands of the dunes that whisper across the Rastafar still whisper to this day, only held back by the little magic granted to the children of scrolthus down below.
Scrolthus is heavily worshiped by the Milvund whom he protects dearly. Scrolthus in general has a kind heart to the Milvund, however he doesn't approve of the way they handle magic. Scrolthus personally believes that magic should be controlled, especially after the incident. However he finds it curious in the way they use his sand to cast magic. So, he worries about their reckless nature and doesn't approve of the users who instigate the hazing intiate rituals, but finds that the Milvund are an interesting group who he cherishes for their strange perserverance and continued belief in him, even after Scrolthus's failures.
April 11th and the Celebration of Magic
Scrolthus is generally celebrated on April and especially on the 25th of April. On the 25th of April, mages across herthal show off their new magical ideas and spells. Magically enchanted weapons are more common across herthal as people attempt to wield the extra magic in the air to profit.
